Monday Motivation

motivateAfter I graduated high school in 1996, I enrolled in college, initially to become a Jr. High school English teacher. I got pregnant with my son in 1998 and in 1999, after waddling around campus like a penguin while pregnant and trying to juggle going to school, being a single mom, and working to support me and my child, I made the decision to take a semester off from college. It was 2001 before I went back to school and by then, I’d changed my mind about becoming a teacher and changed my major to Criminal Justice. Because I had been receiving financial aid and I’d quit, when I went back, I had to pay for all classes and books out of my own pocket, which took me longer, because I could only afford to pay for two or three classes at a time, in addition to the books. I took another ‘break’ from college from 2003 until the fall semester of 2006 (I got pregnant with my daughter during that time, so now I was a single mom of two)I made the decision that I was determined to finish what I’d started. I called my financial advisor at the college and was told I was only two classes away from getting my AAS in Criminal Justice. I took those two classes and in May 2007, I graduated with my degree. And after all that, I turned around and decided to become an author. LOL.

Moral of the story is, if you want something bad enough, you’ll find a way to do it, no matter how long it takes.
